BMI to start service from Manchester to St. Lucia this Nov.

St. Lucia can look forward to some additional airlift from the UK when British Midlands International begins a direct service from Manchester to the Caribbean island.

Originally BMI were to operate a shared service to St. Lucia and Barbados in Nov. this year. However analysis indicated that St. Lucia’s tourism performance warranted a direct weekly service to be run on Monday’s.

“This expanded weekly service, particularly on a Monday, will assist the St. Lucia Tourist Board in being able to capture a greater portion of the wedding and Honeymoon market. The island’s weeding and honeymoon product accounts for more than 36% of annual arrivals and demand is growing.” Said Hilary Modeste St. Lucias Director of Tourism.

He added; “This new dedicated service to St. Lucia will allow us to satisfy excess demand in the market. On another front it will also allow St. Lucia to penetrate further into the UK market.”

The new service is penciled to commence in Nov. this year.
