Drakes to Open their First Hotel in Brighton

30th Jul 2004

Two listed Georgian townhouses have been completely stripped to create Drakes, a unique design-led, 20 bedroom, ‘hand-made’ hotel on Brighton’s Marine Parade.

Independently owned, Drakes is the brainchild of MD Neil Waugh, and has been designed by Tim Shepherd and architect Michael Phillips to be a true retreat from everyday life.  This, the flagship hotel, is due to open in August 2004, bringing a unique experience to Brighton.

The ultimate in personal service coupled with an unbeatable seafront location define Drakes, which features a members-only lounge bar on the ground floor,  four 25 square metre triple aspect circular suites, and two top floor attic rooms with balconies.

The Gingerman, already established in Brighton, opens its second, a 40 cover restaurant in Drakes.  The Gingerman’s proprietor and Head Chef Ben McKellar has created contemporary modern European menu.

With only 20 rooms, Drakes can be booked by the room, the floor, or exclusively for business or leisure.
