Marriott International, Inc.
announced that Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) and
WorkplaceDiversity.com have presented the company with their “Best
Companies for Blacks in Technology Award.” Marriott was one of six winners
selected from a survey of Fortune 1000 companies. This annual award
recognizes Marriott for creating a positive organizational climate and
career development opportunities for African-Americans working in
technology. In announcing the award, BDPA and WorkplaceDiversity.com noted “the best-
in-class programs that Marriott International has in place” and praised
Marriott for its strong commitment to diversity.

“At Marriott, a diverse workplace is a key component of our culture and
the way we do business,” said Carl Wilson, executive vice president and
chief information officer. “The BDPA award is a great honor for Marriott
and reflects the many achievements of our technology division in providing
a positive work environment and development opportunities for all of our
associates.”

BDPA is a national, non-profit professional organization, founded in 1975,
that supports minorities in ensuring their adequate representation in the
information technology industry. There are over 50 active local BDPA
chapters nationwide.
