Northwest Airlines Announces New Jet Service

Northwest Airlines today
announced new nonstop jet service between its hub at Minneapolis/St. Paul
International Airport and Casper, Wyo. Two daily flights will be offered
beginning Oct. 4. “Northwest Airlines is pleased to welcome Casper to its growing network,”
said Tom Bach, vice president of market planning and Airlink. “This will
be the only jet service to Casper and the only nonstop service from
Wyoming to a hub east of the Rocky Mountain region. Customers traveling
through our hub at Minneapolis/St. Paul will enjoy fast and convenient
connections to destinations throughout the Midwest, eastern and southern
United States, Canada and Europe.”

“This marks the beginning of a new era of air service to our community,”
said James Porter, chairman of the Casper Area Economic Development
Alliance. “The citizens of central Wyoming have long requested the return
of jet service to our area. The arrival of Northwest’s service will open
up new avenues of economic development for our community and the entire
state of Wyoming. The benefits of this new partnership will have
far-reaching effects.”

Wyoming’s congressional delegation, U.S. Sens. Craig Thomas and Mike Enzi
(R-Wyo.) and U.S. Rep. Barbara Cubin (R-Wyo.), expressed support for the
additional service.

“We welcome Northwest Airlines to Casper and are encouraged that this new
route will enhance the ability of people to connect with Wyoming and
vice-versa,” the delegation said. “Expanding travel options to and from
our state will benefit tourists, business travelers and Wyoming residents.
We congratulate all who put in the hard work to make this possible.”

The new service will be operated with Northwest Airlink partner Pinnacle
Airlines Corp.‘s Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) seating up to 50 passengers.

between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Jackson Hole.
