Fujitsu Siemens Launches Pocket Loox 400 in The Middle East

Fujitsu Siemens
Computers has launched two PDAs
in the Middle East markets - the Pocket LOOX 410 and 420 - designed for
both private and corporate users. The new handhelds are extremely compact and weigh only around 125 grams.  The operating system, Microsoft Windows Mobile
2003 for Pocket PCs, supports numerous entertainment, navigational and
Office applications, including Mail, Excel and Word.  While both models
can connect to the Internet via Bluetooth, the Pocket LOOX 420 has a wireless
LAN interface for a fast connection via hotspot connectivity that can be
used in parallel to the Bluetooth connection.

“The new Pocket LOOX models are designed for today’s users who demand small,
easy-to-carry systems that allow them to retrieve information from the
Internet, write e-mails, synchronize their address book and get fast access
to corporate applications. The Pocket LOOX 400 Series fulfills all these
needs,” said Susanne Lewitzki, Product Marketing Manager, Fujitsu Siemens
Computers.

Whether indoors or outdoors, there is always a clear picture with the transflective
240 x 320 pixel 65.536 color TFT touch screen display. The Pocket LOOX
400 Series employs 300 MHz and 400 MHz Intel XScale PXA 255 processors
together with a version of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 2003 operating system
optimized for these processors. Users thus benefit from the fast applications
and low power consumption.

Both new Pocket LOOX models - the 410 and 420 - offer extensive communications
functions, including integrated Bluetooth and Infrared interfaces as well
as an SD I/O card slot. The Pocket LOOX 420 also offers the flexibility
of wireless LAN which means users can conveniently send and receive e-mail,
manage their day planner and contacts, as well as access information online.

The Pocket LOOX 400 series features a modular capability that provides
great expandability to make it the ideal mobile office. Pocket LOOX can
be synchronized with a desktop system over WLAN (integrated only in Pocket
LOOX 420), Bluetooth, USB, serial connection or Consumer IrDA. Customers
can enjoy long periods of independence with the Pocket LOOX recharging
concept: the standard 1100 mAh battery allows operation for up to 10 hours.
It is also easy to exchange, and a battery buffer provides the user a 30-minute
window in which to do so.

The new Pocket LOOX models can work with HTML, WAP and XHTML based documents
as well as with Microsoft Word, text, SMS, e-mails, Adobe files (Adobe
Acrobat Reader for Pocket PC needed) and other documents. This, in turn,
provides the user with a wide range of possibilities for acquiring information
and viewing documents.

Pocket Outlook, Pocket Excel and Pocket Word are integrated into the operating
system, allowing document viewing and editing while away from the PC. For
entertainment all Pocket LOOX are provided with Windows Media Player.
Each Pocket LOOX 420 package includes a software voucher which can be used
up at a web shop. Different software categories ranging from business to
entertainment are offered.
