Cathay Pacific Scoops Lounge Award

Cathay Pacific Airways has scooped the World’s Best Airline Lounge award
for 2004. The Airline Lounge survey, conducted by Skytrax Research—the
leading research advisor to the airline industry—attracted more than
1.4 million votes during a 10-month survey period. Not only did the
airline take the top honor in the overall Best Lounge category it also
received top ratings for both Best First Class Lounge and Best Business
Class Lounge. Voters were asked to consider a range of criteria including
seating capacity, lounge decor and ambience, business facilities,
washrooms, showers and leisure amenities, food and beverage selections,
efficiency of staff and friendliness and attitude of lounge staff.
And The Awards Keep On Coming: The OAG 22nd Annual Airline of the Year
Awards, celebrating the very best in global air travel, has given Cathay
Pacific Airways the title of “Best Transpacific Airline.” The awards were
voted by OAG’s worldwide customer base of frequent flying business
travelers.

New York, New York: On July 1 Cathay Pacific celebrated the launch of its
new daily non-stop service between New York (JFK) and Hong Kong. Cathay
Pacific is the only airline to offer a daily non-stop and second daily
one-stop service (via Vancouver) between the two cities. The new service
further strengthens Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s leading aviation hub.

June Travel Takes Off: June saw Cathay Pacific set a new one-day passenger
record. Overall the airline carried 1,142,345 passengers in June, up from
1,064,516 carried in May. The new one-day record was set on June 27 when
45,331 passengers flew with the airline, while the old one-day record was
42,824, set during this year’s Chinese New Year holiday. The airline also
carried a record 76,769 tons of cargo in June, traditionally a quiet
period of the year.
