South African Airways (SAA) cabin crew are the best in Africa.
In a survey conducted by British-based specialist airline advisors, Skytrax, the flight attendants pocketed the coveted Best Cabin Crew in Africa award. This is the eighth award the airline has won since January this year.In addition, SAA cabin crew, who have won this award for the third consecutive year, find themselves listed amongst the top Asian airlines for service. In the world SAA’s cabin service takes an incredible 14th place.
According to Skytrax, SAA was the undisputed winners for the Best Cabin staff in Africa, with Ethiopian Airlines taking 2nd place, knocking Kenya Airways off their post from last year. Over 2 million passengers participated in the survey.
According to the respondents, one of the key attributes for excellent cabin service is “general warmth and character.”
“It is possible to train staff to provide efficient service standards, but at the end of the day it is the softer elements - such as the actual warmth, character and sincerity, which makes the difference between good service, and a truly memorable service. In this regard our service is renowned for its warmth and character,” said Johan van Jaarsveld, SAA Executive Vice President Customer Services.
