7th Jul 2004

Forget the cruise tax and concentrate on the departure tax. St. Maarten will increase its departure tax for international flights from US$20 to $25 on Sep. 1 and the further to US$30 on Jan. 1 ‘05. The reason for this increase is to assist with the funding of the improvement and expansion of the Princess Juliana Airport. This is quoted at $120 million by officials. For internal flights of the Dutch Antilles (Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, St. Eustatius), there will be a hike of 3 dollars ($7 to $10).

Tax is included in the price of a ticket.
