Delta Air Lines today
announced the promotion of two Delta veterans to head the airline’s
International and Sales divisions. Both promotions are effective July 1.
Jorge Fernandez, formerly director - Latin America and Caribbean, is vice
president - International and Alliances, replacing Paul Matsen, who was
recently named Delta’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer.
Pam Elledge, formerly director - Sales and Distribution, is vice president
- Sales and Distribution, replacing Lee Macenczak, recently promoted to
senior vice president and chief human resources officer. Fernandez and
Elledge will report to Matsen.
Fernandez will be responsible for all of Delta’s Caribbean, Latin
American, Pacific and Transatlantic operations. In addition, he is charged
with developing Delta’s international and alliances strategy, managing
Delta’s role in the SkyTeam global alliance and overseeing codeshare
relationships with 16 partner airlines around the globe.
“Jorge understands well the cultural and business side of Delta’s global
operations and the unique needs of our international customers,” said
Matsen. “His previous diplomatic experience will also be an asset to Delta
as we strengthen and grow our Alliance partnerships.”
Fernandez joined Delta in 1999 from Veridian Engineering. His previous
career experience also includes 24 years in the U.S. Air Force as a
command pilot, strategic planner and international affairs advisor.
Elledge, who began working for Delta in 1980, has varied experience within
the Marketing division. “Pam has excellent leadership skills and extensive
experience in both traditional and online distribution channels. That
experience will certainly play a key role in growing Delta’s revenue in
the future,” said Matsen. Elledge will be responsible for implementing
industry- leading technology solutions, developing key strategic sales
partnerships and continuing to expand delta.com. Sales & Distribution
generated $11 billion in revenue across all customer channels in 2003.
