Following official confirmation of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), Secretary General Jean Holder’s retirement it has now been dated as the close of this year. Holder dedicated three decades of his life to the organisation. The organisation’s chairman, Obie Wilchcombe made the official announcement at a news conference at the end of Caribbean Week in New York.
A number of organizations and individuals paid tribute to Dr. Jean Holder at Caribbean Week, following the announcement of his retirement.
“My colleagues have already recognised him. During our session yesterday (at the 41st meeting of Ministers of Tourism at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York on Thursday, June 3rd, 2004), my colleagues from around the Caribbean expressed their support of the Secretary General and the wonderful work that he has done,” Obie Wilchcome, CTO’s chairman told journalist during a news conference at the end of Caribbean Week.
“He took a dream, made it live, it has life and now we have the responsibility to take it forward.”
