Italian tour operators have given Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, a Marcopolo Award, Italy’s tourism ‘Oscar’, for the second year running. The award is the quality benchmark of Italian travel. Agostino Porretto, chairman of Regione Sicilia’s Council for Tourism, Sport and Entertainment, presented it to Massimo Massini, Emirates’ Area Manager Italy, Malta & Iberian Peninsula, at a ceremony attended by travel industry VIPs and guests.
Mr Massini said: “We are deeply honoured to receive this award for the second year in a row, this time from the tour operators who play such an important part in providing our customers with the best possible travel bargains and the highest quality service standards.
“We thank them for their support, and for their outstanding performance.”
Italy has a pivotal place on Emirates’ network, with daily departures from Rome and Milan connecting via Dubai to the Middle East, Africa, Indian sub-continent, Far East and Australia.
