USVI welcomes new US Airways service

US Airways’ inaugural flight 935
received a warm reception at St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King Airport when it
arrived on Saturday afternoon.  Staff of the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of
Tourism greeted passengers with Cruzan Rum punch, gifts and live steelpan
music. Government officials honoured the flight’s pilot and crew with a
formal presentation.
“I am thrilled that we have added this new direct service to the U.S. Virgin
Islands from a major metropolitan area like New York City,” Commissioner
Pamela Richards said. “I am confident that these new flights will further
stimulate travel, both leisure and business, to the USVI this summer as we
continue to promote our Summer Super Saver promotion to prospective
visitors.”

The new non-stop flight 935 will provide direct service each week on
Saturdays from New York’s LaGuardia Airport departing at 8:45 a.m. and
arriving on St. Thomas at 12:49 p.m. The return flight 936 will depart St.
Thomas at 1:55 p.m. and arrive in New York at 5:50 p.m. Both flights will
operate aboard an Airbus A319 aircraft with the capacity to accommodate up
to 124.
