"The Bahamas Film Studios" continues to grow

Ashby Corp. Ltd. announced today, “The Bahamas Film Studios,” a state-of-the-art film studio facility and entertainment complex, is currently well into development on the Island of Grand Bahama. The initial site cleanup of the decommissioned U.S. Air Force missile base is almost complete and preparations are under way for the environmental analysis of the site. Ashby is preparing for the next phase - the renovation of existing buildings and construction of the new facility.
When completed, The Bahamas Film Studios will have a significant positive impact on the economy of the Bahamas. Hans J. Schutte, chairman and CEO, stated, “The studios will bring exciting opportunities to the Bahamas and will create additional awareness to become a landmark in the film industry. We plan to be here for the long term and look forward to becoming an integral part of the Bahamas community.”

Due to the enormity of this project, Ashby through its development of The Bahamas Film Studios is ensuring that all governmental concerns and criteria will be met. We welcome the opportunity of working with the government of the Bahamas in the development of a Bahamian-based film industry and a tourism destination.

Craig Woods, the Bahamas film commissioner, is quoted as saying, “As part of the Bahamas government initiative to provide a more diverse economy, we welcome the opportunity to partner with Ashby in supporting the development of such a state-of-the-art film studio facility on Grand Bahama Island. The Ministry of Tourism and the Bahamas Film Commission consider this project a major coup, as it will not only assist in the establishment of a bona fide film industry that encompasses cutting-edge technology, but it will most definitely improve the state of the local film industry. This project will provide employment, new skill development, increased film production and overall international exposure.”
