T&C set to debut Music and Poetry Festival Sep. 1 - 5, ‘04

The Turks and Caicos Islands first ever Music and Poetry Festival will take place from September 1st to September 5th, 2004, attracting big names from the United States and around the world to a unique celebration of both artistic forms. Produced by the BET and sponsored in part by VH1, the festivities will bring well-known music and performing artistes including Chaka Khan, Maxi Priest, Boyz II Men, Malcolm Jamal Warner, Kim Fields, and Jeffrey Osbourne together in a series of live music and poetry events. Shows will take place at popular beauty spots across the island of Providenciales, including Half Moon Beach and Turtle Cove Marina.

The five-day event is the first of its kind in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Organisers hope that the festival will allow both residents and visitors to enjoy premier quality performances and concerts featuring top TV and music stars.

With some exclusive shows being recorded for future broadcast, the Turks and Caicos are likely to receive an even wider audience of potential visitors.

The islands, which have won awards for their natural sites and pristine beauty, are just now growing in popularity with travellers and are likely to continue to grow as more festivals like the Turks and Caicos Music and Poetry event shine the spotlight on this enchanting chain in the Northern Caribbean.
