Julie Connery Promoted to EIBTM Event Manager

Julie Connery has been promoted to the position of Event
Manager for EIBTM - the exhibition for the incentive, business travel
and meetings industry.Formerly Manager of Hosted Programmes for Reed Travel Exhibitions
including EIBTM, Julie has worked on the event for more than four
years, first as Sales Manager and later as Manager of the Hosted Buyer
Team, helping to bring more than 3,000 top-level buyers to last year’s
show.

Working with and reporting to Exhibition Director, Debbie Jackson,
Julie will be responsible for building on current partnerships with
supporting organisations such as the official carrier, Iberia, the DMC
Ultramar and the Barcelona Convention Bureau during the move to
Barcelona.

Debbie Jackson said: “EIBTM’s move to Barcelona represents an
unparalleled opportunity to strengthen and grow the event. In order to
capitalise on this opportunity, we have put in place an exceptionally
strong team to support our exibitors, visitors and media partners.
Julie’s combination of experience and commitment are ideal qualities
that she will bring to the role of Event Manager.”

Julie’s current role is backed up by more than 13 years experience of
working in the meetings and incentives industry, including positions at
Hogg Robinson Business Travel, Global Event Solutions and Status
Meetings (now MCI).

Julie commented: “I am looking forward to the challenge of being the
Event Manager for EIBTM’s inaugural event in Barcelona. It is an
important move for us and the whole team is eager to ensure that the
transition to the new show venue is smooth and EIBTM 2004 is successful
for everyone involved.” In addition, Sue Bertram has been appointed as
Manager - Hosted Programmes. Sue has worked in Travel, Tourism and
Hospitality for over 20 years including an early move to Australia to
carry out Tourism Research on behalf of the Sydney Town Planning
Department and the Australian Tourist Commission. On return to the UK,
Sue joined The Gras Roots Group and in 1996 moved to Reed Travel
Exhibitions where she was appointed Marketing Manager for World Travel
Market.
