Air France Flies Veterans to Paris

Air France will invite 100 U.S. World
War II veterans and their companions on a special flight June 3 from
Washington, D.C. to France to be honored at and participate in D-Day
commemorations in Paris and Normandy. The flight, which will leave Dulles Airport on June 3, will be staffed by
an Air France crew specially-selected to cater to the veterans and their
travel companions. In addition to specially prepared meals, the veterans
will enjoy customized on-board entertainment including videos about D-Day
and the Normandy landing. Air France will present each veteran with a
custom-designed hat and personalized certificate created for the flight.

“Air France is so proud to bring these World War II heroes back to France
to be honored for the 60th anniversary of D-Day,” said Marie-Joseph Male,
Vice President, General Manager, U.S.A., Air France. “It is our sincere
hope that their experience in France, beginning with this customized
flight, will have a positive impact on their memories of this historic
occasion.”

While in France, the veterans will receive the French Legion of Honor by
the French Minister of Defense and will be presented with the insignia of
the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic M. Jacques
Chirac at a ceremony at Normandy. Prior to the flight on June 3, a
reception will be held for the veterans at the French Embassy in
Washington, D.C.
