Delta Celebrates Silver Service in San Antonio

Delta Air Lines is celebrating the
25th anniversary of service in San Antonio today. Delta began service from
San Antonio on May 14, 1979, with service between San Antonio and Houston
using Boeing 727 aircraft. Today, Delta and Delta Connection carriers
offer 21 daily departures to Delta’s hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati and
Dallas/Ft. Worth.
“As we celebrate Delta Air Lines’ 75th anniversary this year, I am proud
to also recognize the milestones we’ve reached along the way. Today, we
proudly honor our 25 years of service in San Antonio,” said Vicki Escarra,
Delta’s chief marketing officer.

“For a quarter of a century, our customers in San Antonio have supported
us, and for that, we thank them. We look forward to serving them for many
more years to come,” said Escarra.

Delta’s 75th anniversary celebrations came to San Antonio yesterday as the
airline’s restored DC-3 aircraft touched down for a few hours at the San
Antonio International Airport. The aircraft, Ship 41, served in Delta’s
fleet from 1940 to 1958. Ship 41 returned to Delta’s fleet in 1999
following a six- year restoration by employees and retirees of Delta. The
aircraft is currently on a tour of the United States. For more information
