United Enhances In-Flight Movie Programming
United Airlines today announced that it has expanded its in-flight movie
options—just in time for the busy summer travel season. Effective
immediately, top-run movie titles will change twice a month each direction
rather than once a month, on North America, Hawaii, Alaska and select
Latin America flights.
“We are excited to give our travelers more movie options as we head into
the busy summer travel season,” said Marty St. George, managing director,
Marketing Planning. “We recognize that many of our passengers are repeat
travelers, and we want to give them more onboard entertainment options to
make their trips more enjoyable.”
In addition to an expanded list of movies, movie buffs on Boeing 777 and
767 international aircraft, and in United First and United Business
classes on Boeing 747s, will enjoy a new offering called “Encore
Presentations,” a channel dedicated to recent movies that have quickly
achieved classic status. Selections in “Encore Presentations” debut month
of June will include ‘Catch Me if You Can’ and ‘Almost Famous.’
On trans-Pacific and intra-Asia routes, “Encore Presentations” will offer
United customers an additional movie channel with dubbing in either
Japanese, Korean or Chinese subtitles, depending on flight destination.
United also employs a “Personal Cinema Library,” available in United First
on Boeing 777 and 747 aircraft. “Personal Cinema Library” selections for
the month of June will include ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the
King’, ‘Kill Bill: Vol. 1’ and ‘The Last Samurai.’
