Gulf Air, the national airline of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman and Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has announced that beginning 21 June the airline will offer direct flights from Dubai to London. “We are delighted to add this latest service from Dubai International Airport just in time for the peak summer period,” said James Hogan, President and Chief Executive of Gulf Air.
The British Tourist Authority (BTA), VisitBritain (formerly the British Tourism Authority) has welcomed the airline’s move.
“The UK, and London in particular, has always been a popular destination,” said Mark Miller, VisitBritain’s Regional Manager - Middle East and Africa. “The introduction by Gulf Air of this direct service is to be applauded. London is one of Europe’s most popular destinations, and this service means more convenience and better options for travellers between the UAE and the United Kingdom, which will benefit both countries.”
The addition of the London-Dubai route brings to 33, the number of Gulf Air flights between London and the Gulf each week. “Gulf Air now has the greatest frequency of flights to the region out of Heathrow,” added Mr. Hogan. “Due to the increasing demand for flights from Dubai, Gulf Air is expanding its network to satisfy customer requirements,” said Fareed Al Alawi, Vice President Network at Gulf Air. “This is another illustration of our commitment to extending our services to better serve our customers and get them where they want to go, when they want to go.
The daily Dubai flights are in addition to the twice-daily flights to Abu Dhabi, the two to Bahrain and one to Muscat.
Flights will depart Dubai International Airport at 11:30 arriving at London Heathrow at 17:55 after a 30-minute layover in Bahrain. For the return leg, the flight leaves London at 20:00 and arrives in Dubai at 9:40 the next morning.
