Passengers Vote for Cathay Pacific

Passengers Vote for Cathay: The
results are in and Cathay Pacific has earned top honours. Skytrax—the
world’s leading research advisor to the airline industry—has released
the results of its annual passenger survey, polling more than 10 million
people from over 80 countries worldwide. Cathay Pacific was voted the Best
Transpacific Airline in the World, as well as the Best First Class. In
addition, the Hong Kong International Airport was named—for the fourth
consecutive year—the Airport of the Year, with the large amount of open
space and natural daylight cited as its strongest features. More than
10,821,215 entries were received during the survey period between June
2003 to March 2004. New Aircraft Orders and New Staff Hires Announced: Cathay Pacific’s
continued commitment to expanding Hong Kong as Asia’s leading
international aviation hub has resulted in the announcement of a firm
order for 8 new wide-body aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. The new
aircraft, to be delivered between 2005 and 2007, will be deployed on the
airline’s short and medium-haul services bringing the total operating
fleet to 94 aircraft. Also, in conjunction with the arrival of the new
aircraft and the airline’s continued growth, Cathay Pacific is hiring an
additional 600 flight attendants and 70 ground staff to service its
expansion plans, including the recently announced daily non-stop service
between New York and Hong Kong starting on July 1.

Inflight Menu Takes Off: The Peninsula Hotel—a Hong Kong institution
recognized as one of the world’s best hotels—has teamed up with Cathay
Pacific to offer passengers a selection of dishes from its acclaimed
Spring Moon Chinese restaurant. The inflight menu will feature more than
30 special Spring Moon dishes including Lamb Chops with Leeks in Gravy,
Steamed Prawns with Egg White Sauce and Steamed Sliced Sea Bass with
Preserved Vegetables. Every year the airline creates its “Best Chinese
Food in the Air” promotion designed to showcase the best gourmet dishes
Hong Kong has to offer. This season the special Spring Moon menu will be
served in all classes on virtually all Cathay Pacific flights departing
from Hong Kong between May 1 and October 31.
