New Orleans Launches New Web Resource

The New Orleans Tourism Marketing
Corporation today launched a new website,
http://www.neworleansmuseums.com/ , which features more than 40 of the
city’s top cultural attractions. The launch coincides with the American
Association of Museums’ annual convention, which will be held in New
Orleans beginning May 6. “This site is a complete source of arts, historic, family, Mardi Gras,
multicultural, religious, and nature museums and historic homes in the
city,” says Sandra S. Shilstone, President and CEO of NOTMC. “It makes
planning a cultural visit to New Orleans an easy, fun and rewarding
experience.”

The new culturally-focused website was created as a public service to the
museum community and cultural visitors around the world. It is wholly
owned and operated by NOTMC and was written and designed by staff members
of NOTMC’s award-winning website, http://www.neworleansonline.com/ , the
official tourism website for the City of New Orleans.

“Visitors to NewOrleansMuseums.com will find everything from the elegant
New Orleans Museum of Art to the funky Backstreet Cultural Museum,”
Shilstone says. “They can learn about our historic facilities, like the
Cabildo where the Louisiana Purchase was transferred, or get a look at
some of America’s newest attractions, like the Sydney and Walda Bestoff
Sculpture Garden, which features $25 million in world-class sculptures
nestled within a serene five- acre setting.”

The museums featured on the site were selected by the members of the New
Orleans AAM host committee and each is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
that is open to the public.

“We have always featured the city’s world-class cultural attractions in a
special section of NewOrleansOnline.com, and we will continue to promote
their special events and exhibitions very visibly there as well,”
Shilstone adds. “However, as part of our mission to help service
culturally-inclined visitors to New Orleans, creating a special new
website made perfect sense.”
