Continental Airlines Raises Fuel Surcharge

Continental Airlines today announced that it has increased the fuel surcharge on certain tickets effective immediately.
The surcharge has been raised from $10 USD each way to $15 USD each way for travel in the U.S., and between the U..S. and Canada.Ê
The higher surcharge will help offset higher jet fuel prices. Last week Continental reported a first quarter net loss of $124 million.Ê Had jet fuel prices been at Continental’s five-year average (1999 to 2003) price, the company’s fuel expense for the quarter would have been $102 million less.
