Pavia Day Spa and Colorescience Sponsor ‘Season of Renewal, Season of Hope’ Makeover Party

Pavia Day Spa, a leading, full-service day spa in Saratoga, California,
and Colorescience, a cosmetics manufacturer known for its minerals-based
make-up line, today announced the upcoming “Season of Renewal, Season of
Hope” makeover party. The event will be held Sunday, April 18, from 11
a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pavia Day Spa. Participants will receive a 30-minute
make-up application using Colorescience products. All donations collected
at the door (a $20 donation is suggested) as well as 10 percent of all
product sales will go to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Pavia Day Spa is co-sponsoring this event in honor of one of its most
courageous clients, 16-year-old Adrienne Boardman, who has battled
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since she was nine years old. “Whenever we see Adrienne
and her mother Allison walk through the door, we are always impressed by
their optimism and bravery,” said Maryling Yu, Pavia co-owner. “Most
16-year-olds are worrying about who’s taking them to the prom; Adrienne
has to deal with chemotherapy treatments and bone marrow transplants, and
she does so with such grace and poise. It’s truly admirable.”

Although Hodgkin’s disease is 90 to 100 percent treatable in younger
people in Stage one or two of the disease for those with Stage three or
four Hodgkin’s there’s only a 70 percent chance of a cure. About 7,600
people each year are diagnosed in the U.S. with Hodgkin’s, and roughly
1,300 people die. In Adrienne’s case, after 19 different kinds of
chemotherapy, 13 weeks of daily radiation, and two bone marrow
transplants, her disease is finally in remission. She maintains her health
through a rigorous physical training regimen, and even finished the
Honolulu marathon in 2003. But she says, with her characteristic blend of
pluck and spunk, “I’d rather be out training for a marathon than getting
my medical treatments any day!”

“We’re thrilled to be able to aid Adrienne and others in their fight for
recovery,” said Pavia co-owner Albie Velayo. “We are lucky to have
supportive partners like Colorescience who share our sense of
responsibility to the community. It is going to be a wonderful event, and
it’s for a great cause.”

Those who would like to join Pavia and Colorescience for the “Season of
Renewal, Season of Hope” makeover party are invited to book an appointment
for Sunday, April 18 by calling 408-741-1555, or by sending an email to

tax-deductible donation to payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, c/o
