Historic 1910 Landmark Hotel to Join Starwood

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced today that it has finalized a long-term agreement with U.S. Grant Hotel Ventures, LLC and welcomes the US Grant Hotel in San Diego to The Luxury Collection portfolio of prestigious hotels. The 285-room, US Grant Hotel is situated in downtown San Diego, and will be affiliated with The Luxury Collection in January 2005.

Featuring outstanding dining and nightlife options, the hotel is currently managed by APMC, an independent operator. Built in 1910 and is located on Broadway, close to Horton Plaza and the city’s trendy Gaslamp Quarter, the US Grant Hotel is minutes away from the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego International Airport and close to the Marina and Bay.

Prior to its affiliation with The Luxury Collection, the hotel this year will undergo an extensive $10 million dollar interior renovation that will include guestrooms, food and beverage facilities, lobby areas and meeting space. Coupled with the last major renovation in 1995 when the hotel underwent a massive $80 million refurbishment, the US Grant features 33,000 square feet of meeting space including the 9,300 square-foot Grand Ballroom. The US Grant Hotel will mark Starwood’s seventh property in San Diego along with its sister hotels including The Westin Horton Plaza, W San Diego, Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, Sheraton Suites San Diego, Four Points by Sheraton San Diego and Four Points by Sheraton Rancho Bernardo.
