Designer Eye for the Hotel Guy
Beginning this spring, The Charles Hotel, Harvard Square’s most sophisticated and unique accommodation, unveils a new look for its front-of-the-house staff through an exclusive partnership with national retailer, J.Crew. In March, the American sportswear clothier will outfit the hotel’s front desk attendants, bellmen, doormen, and concierge in finely-tailored, colorful selections from its 2004 spring collection. This exciting partnership with J.Crew brings The Charles into the elite group of hotels that showcase designer wear as “uniforms.”
“The two brands are a natural fit,” explains Margot Brunelle, Director of Public Relations and Marketing for J.Crew. “The Charles Hotel has a classic yet comfortable feel, and that’s the All-American look and image that J.Crew has pioneered since 1983.” Apparel worn by the Charles Hotel staff will be updated each season, as the retailer introduces new collections to the public.
“We’re delighted to have J.Crew as a fashion partner,” says Alex Attia, General Manager of The Charles Hotel. “J.Crew’s clothes have revolutionized the look of casual elegance and bring us an added dose of style and personality. Being an independent, luxury hotel, we continually strive to find creative ways to provide our guests with one-of-a-kind experiences.”
Plans call for hotel front desk attendants, doormen and concierge to wear grey tropical wool pants with navy blazers paired with either a yellow, light blue or pink cotton habadashery shirt and coordinating colorful Repp ties. Women will be outfitted in lightweight navy blue pants or skirt suiting. Bellmen will wear dress chinos and classic navy blazers.
