Delta Announces Leadership Change

Delta Air Lines today announced that President and Chief Operating Officer Frederick W. Reid will retire from the company, effective April 1, 2004, to assume the position of CEO of Virgin’s soon-to-be-announced U.S. domestic airline.
“Fred Reid has been an asset to Delta during his more than six years with us and we all wish him well in his future endeavors,” said Delta CEO Gerald Grinstein. “Looking ahead, Delta has great talent and a deep bench, which we will use to fill in behind Fred. We will continue to run an industry-leading operation thanks to the efforts of the many dedicated people at this airline.”

Initially, Grinstein will assume Reid’s responsibilities. Further organizational moves will be announced soon.
