Perfecting the Art of Service for a Quarter Century

Four Seasons has long been the Washington residence of choice for visiting
heads of state, captains of industry and Hollywood’s A-list. We have been
privileged to welcome our guests back time and again in large part because
of the high value we place on personal relationships, both with our
long-tenured staff and our guests.
This tenure reflects our enduring dedication to individual expectations
and an instinctive response to those needs. Through years of developing
these relationships, we continue to perfect the art of service ... the art
of welcoming and hosting the most discerning guests.

As we prepare to celebrate our Silver Anniversary, we look with pride at a
quarter century of commitment to our staff, our guests and to our Nation’s
Capital.

Numbers Tell the Story ... * As a team, this staff of 450 has been
perfecting the art of service for nearly 100 Million hours. Together, we
bring 3,400 cumulative years of Four Seasons experience and service to our
guests. * Four Seasons enjoys the lowest staff turnover in the industry.
30 of us here in Washington have been with this company for more than 10
years. * Hailing from more than 80 countries, our diverse staff tends to
guests from every corner of the globe in 37 different languages. * With
450 of us serving 257 guest rooms, we offer the highest staff-to-
guestroom ratio of any hotel in the city. * ZERO. The number of staff Four
Seasons has laid off in 25 years, even after the economic challenges
following September 11, 2001. We have never had a layoff. * Four Seasons
is the only luxury hotel in Washington that retains our original ownership
and management. This solid team is absolutely committed to operating the
finest hotel in Washington….forever. * Since opening in 1979, our owners
have invested more than $200 Million to ensure that we remain the
capital’s most luxurious, most technologically sophisticated, most
acclaimed hotel. * Speaking of acclaimed, five of the most respected
travel journals continue to rank us as the #1 Hotel in Washington year
after year. (Conde Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, Andrew Harper’s
Hideaway Report, Departures, Zagat) * 2004 will usher in a redesign
project that will re-establish the standard for the next 25 years,
representing another $20 Million investment in this hotel and in this
community. Embracing this Community ... * Four Seasons Washington makes
more than 500 individual charitable donations to this community each year,
totaling nearly $1 Million. * Our annual Terry Fox Run and Golf Tournament
have together raised nearly $500,000, dedicated entirely to cancer
research in Washington, DC. * Our newest community outreach, the annual
Festival of Trees, raised more than $80,000 for Washington’s Children’s
Hospital in 2003. * Our Thanksgiving on the Mayflower has become one of
the most anticipated events of the holiday season, offering a Thanksgiving
meal with our family to those heroes who protect us year-round—the
police officers and fire fighters who can’t be with their loved ones on
Thanksgiving.

A luxurious experience is not easily summed up, existing beyond trends and
opulence. It is an imperceptible feeling ... the result of trust acquired
patiently and of passionate individuals creating a unique and inspiring
experience, consistently, year after year.

Four Seasons has enjoyed a remarkable 25-year presence in Washington, DC
and remains dedicated to our family of staff, our guests and to this great
city.
