Sunburst Resort & Spa in Arizona Opens SpaTerre
The SunBurst Resort & Spa, the only full-service resort in old-town Scottsdale, has completed the second phase in a $6 million renovation project, which will be fully concluded in early fall 2004. The renovation will upgrade the property while maintaining the charm and beauty of the resort, which remains a Scottsdale favorite with guests and locals alike. The second phase of the renovation, completed at the end of January, included the addition of a 3,500 square foot spa, SpaTerre. The spa consists of seven treatment rooms, including one couples massage room. The treatment rooms feature ceramic claw-foot tubs and some include private shower and toilet. SpaTerre also features a wet room with Vichy Shower, facial room, manicure/pedicure room and a meditation room just off the lobby with access to the spa, fitness and pool areas. Renovation of the Porte Cochere was also completed during this phase, in which the front wall was taken down and three water and fire feature columns were added to create an entrance that mirrors the natural design elements of water and fire running throughout the resort, further enhancing the already mystical Sonoran Desert landscape. The second stage of the renovation began on November 1, 2003.
The resort has also gone wireless. There is wireless Internet access in all guest rooms, lobby, pool area and conference space. Hi-speed connectivity was completed at the end of January.
“Having completed the second phase of our renovation, we can now say that the SunBurst is now a full-service resort, offering the true Scottsdale experience with a boutique feel,” comments Dori Familiant, general manager of SunBurst Resort & Spa. “The addition of the spa, redevelopment of the Porte Cochere, new meeting space and wireless Internet, greatly enhances the options available to every guest of the SunBurst,” added Familiant.
The first phase of the renovation, completed at the end of September, was the remodeling of meeting and public space. New carpeting, wall coverings, chandeliers and a new ceiling were installed in the Arizona Ballroom. There is a total of 14,000 square feet of meeting space, consisting of thirteen meeting rooms with capacity for up to 500.
Renovation to all of the guest rooms will begin after the 2004 season and will be complete by Fall 2004. New bathrooms, carpet, armoires and beds will be updated in the guest rooms. A renovation to the lobby, restaurant and pool will be completed, as well. Shear drapery panels in the Porte Cochere, lobby and throughout guestroom patios will be added, as well as a private dining room in Saguaro’s, the resort’s fine dining restaurant and an outdoor event space with an infinity-edge water lagoon for weddings and social events.
