Wayport Announces Partnership with Insite Wireless

Wayport
today announced that it will provide Wi-Fi service in the common areas and meeting rooms of the Moscone Center, San Francisco’s premier meeting and exhibition facility.Wayport’s Wi-Fi Service will use the common access distributed antenna
system installed by InSite Wireless at the Moscone Center to improve the
quality of wireless services inside the building.
“Wayport’s industry leading Wi-Fi solution provides an ideal complement to
the Moscone Center’s cutting-edge facilities and services,” said Naina
Ayya, communications manager for the Moscone Center. “Our convention
attendees increasingly are looking for a convenient high-speed
connectivity solution before, during and after their meetings and events,
and Wayport’s service fills the gap perfectly.”
Wayport’s Wi-Fi access will support both 802.11b and 802.11g devices and
will be available this spring in Moscone North and South, with a later
phase adding Moscone West.  It will ultimately be available throughout the
Moscone Center’s common area space and meeting rooms and will allow users
to stay connected and productive during convention center conferences.
Meeting, conference and tradeshow attendees will enjoy Wayport’s
high-performance and reliable high-speed wireless Internet access - up to
50 times faster than standard dial-up - to corporate and Web-based email,
the Internet and their corporate networks.  The fiber based, distributed
antenna system installed by InSite Wireless, LLC allows Wayport to cover
the large area without any impact to the facility’s aesthetics.  Wi-Fi
signals are transmitted through the same antennas that are already
improving the quality of cellular services inside the Moscone Center.
“Wayport’s Wi-Fi service at the Moscone Center will be a great complement
to our existing service in hotels, airports and select McDonald’s,
especially those in the San Francisco area,” said Steve Fulford, vice
president of strategic business development for Wayport. “Convenient
high-speed connectivity has become a must-have for today’s business
traveler, and the availability of our service at one of the nation’s top
convention facilities gives travelers another opportunity to stay
connected and productive while away from the office.”
