American Airlines, the world’s largest carrier, reported a monthly load
factor for February of 68.9 percent, an increase of 0.2 points compared to
last year. Capacity for February increased 11.9 percent year over year,
and traffic increased 12.2 percent. Leap year contributed approximately
4.0 points to both the year-over-year capacity and traffic increases.
Relative to last year, February’s load factor increased 0.8 points in
domestic markets. However, the average load factor fell by 1.3 points in
international markets where capacity increased nearly 20 percent year over
year.
American boarded 6.84 million passengers in February.
