Caribbean even more positive then ever

In support of earlier stories featured on CTN, according to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), Madrid, the international tourism industry has seen improved results in recent months. In the Caribbean most destinations reported positive or even very positive figures. Due to the weakness of the dollar most destinations have become cheaper for vacationers from Europe and Canada. Since the low point in 2002 the Caribbean has undergone a continuous improvement. Some of the main destinations have been particularly successful: Dominican Republic (+ 20 %), Cuba (+14 %) and Jamaica (+7 %). Increases have also been achieved by Puerto Rico (+3 %) and the Bahamas (+2 %).

The slogan of the Caribbean Forum at the ITB 2004 is “The Caribbean en vogue”.
