Continental Airlines to Inaugurate New Service

Continental Airlines and the City of Tallahassee, Fla. today announced the
airline will inaugurate nonstop service May 1 linking the Florida capital
with George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, the airline’s
largest hub.
Twice-daily jet service operated with the 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 regional
jet will connect Tallahassee to dozens of flights to and from cities in
the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America and Asia.
Houston, the nation’s fourth-largest city, is home to some of the world’s
largest energy firms, Johnson Space Center, four major sports teams and
the world’s largest rodeo. At Bush Intercontinental Airport, Continental
Airlines offers nearly 600 daily departures to more than 150 cities
worldwide.

“I thank Continental Airlines for making this commitment to our Capital
City,” said Florida Governor Jeb Bush. “By establishing direct air service
between Tallahassee and Houston, Continental Airlines offers even greater
opportunities for tourists and business leaders from across the world to
experience the bountiful wonders of north Florida. We welcome Continental
Airlines to the increasingly diverse array of air carriers that call
Tallahassee home.”

“The addition of Continental service to Tallahassee Regional Airport will
give travelers in Florida’s Capital City and regular market access to
another major hub,” said Tallahassee Mayor John Marks. “Continental offers
travelers access to literally dozens of other cities. We are delighted
that Continental is increasing flight options for travelers here.”

“We look forward to working with the community to make this route a great
success,” said Ned Walker, Continental’s senior vice president of
worldwide corporate communications. “This is our 14th route in the
Sunshine State, where we offer more than 245 flights per day. Capital City
travelers will enjoy our convenient, premium-class service and the
tremendous benefits of flying a full-service airline.”
