Tiscover has predicted that recovery in the global travel market “is underway”, as the company reports passing the 1,000 transactions-per-minute barrier on its headline site Tiscover.com.
The announcement comes as Tiscover reports its statistics for January 2004, which also saw 1.8 million page impressions recorded on the same day (12 January) as its transactions record, up 20% on 12 January 2003.
Bookings made through Tiscover.com between 1-12 January 2004 rose by 40% compared with the same period in 2003.
The breakthroughs follow the company’s announcement of strong growth during the year 2003, when Tiscover.com recorded 256 million page impressions, compared with 225 million in 2002.
Karsten Kärcher, executive director of sales, marketing and finance at Tiscover said:
“January is one of the busiest months for the world’s travel and tourism industries, and statistics like these undoubtedly prove that consumers are once again becoming increasingly confident about travelling.
“Last year saw the world’s tourism continuing to invest in their online strategies, despite turbulent conditions in the travel industry. Their commitment to the web is being repaid by a strong direct response from consumers.
“For Tiscover, the company which powers more online tourism transactions than any technology provider, last year saw remarkable growth, and the results we witnessed in January indicate we’ll see significant further expansion during 2004.”
