In 2003 Galileo International enjoyed a bumper year of new business wins and contracts renewals. The company further strengthened its position as the number one GDS in the UK market through innovative products and customer solutions.
In the past 12 months, Galileo has won more than 50 new accounts, including Argo and Worldwide Journeys. Galileo also renewed a number of major contracts with UK-based travel agents. Amongst those signing new contracts with the company are Somak, Specialised Travel, Travellink, Bales, Major Travel and Cyplon Travel.
In 2003 Galileo widened its portfolio of services with a raft of new product launches. Among the highlights were the innovative 360¡ Fares Packages, which saw Galileo set new standards with its Airline Private Fares, Agency Private Fares, Public Fares and Custom Fares Products. Galileo also continued to dominate the e-ticketing market with 17% more airlines signed-up to Galileo’s e-ticketing packages than any other GDS.
“In 2004 we intend to build on the success of 2004 and strengthen Galileo’s position as the market leader in both the UK and Irish markets. 2004 will be a year of change; we will see agents and suppliers looking to form long-term relationships with their partners. Galileo’s focus in 2004 will be to ensure that we remain the leading content provider and that we maximise the opportunities available to us as part of Cendant to add value for our travel agents.” Said Alison Bell, Regional Director for UK and Ireland.
