Scandinavian Airlines System Opts for Worldres

WorldRes has announced a partnership with Scandinavian Airlines System
(SAS).The deal marks WorldRes’ first major move into the Scandinavian market, and will allow users of the SAS website to book over 35,000 hotels, luxury resorts, independent and boutique properties worldwide from the company’s portfolio.

SAS has witnessed strong growth in hotel bookings since launching its own service in August this year. As a result, the company has opted to radically enhance its accommodation offering, selecting WorldRes’ market-leading product to create a competitive positioning.

The partnership means SAS customers will benefit from an enhanced geographical spread of hotels and product geared to suit all travel needs, delivering increased volumes and revenue to the airline.

As a result of the agreement, WorldRes will begin to work with a number of hotels already on the SAS website, providing them with one of the widest routes to market, from websites to tourist boards and destination management companies (DMCs). Additionally, the hotels will store their content on WorldRes’ centralised database, allowing their information to be accessed in real-time by over 5,000 website partners.

Lars Shönnings, manager hotel programs and offers at SAS said: “We selected WorldRes because their core business is hotels. WorldRes’ knowledge of the market is comprehensive, and they offer very competitive rates through their unrivalled industry relationships.

Wolfgang Kitza
, CEO of WorldRes added: “The agreement with SAS represents another important deal for WorldRes, and a significant move into the Scandinavian market.

“This partnership underlines our commitment to growth across the European online travel sector, and closely follows a major deal with lastminute.com.

“We look forward to providing SAS’ customers with a comprehensive hotel booking experience, and working with the airline on some significant projects over the coming months.”
