Travel Distribution Services has appointed Alison Bell as Regional Director for UK and Ireland. She moves into this role from her previous position as Managing Director for Galileo Ireland and will be based in Langley.
The role of Regional Director is a new one designed to manage the growth of the Galileo business as it looks to take into account a changing travel market. As well as developing Galileo’s traditional business with travel agents, Alison will also be focusing on Galileo’s role as part of the Cendant Travel Distribution Services division, as the organisation looks to develop new business streams, for example in the corporate on-line, consumer on-line and hospitality arenas as a reflection of the broader portfolio of services that already exist within the Cendant TDS division.
Commenting on her role, Alison said, “As the travel market continues to change, this is a great opportunity for us to capitalise on the opportunities that Cendant can offer to our customers and partners. I intend to strength Galileo’s position within the UK and Irish markets, while working with my teams both here in the UK and in Dublin to exploit the wider opportunities open to us as part of the Cendant family. My first task will be to appoint country managers in the UK and in Ireland who will be tasked with driving Galileo sales and customer support in the region.”
Alison began her career with Galileo Ireland in 1999 as Sales & Marketing Manager and was promoted to Managing Director in 2003. Previous to working for Galileo she enjoyed roles with Lee Hotels, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and USIT as well travelling extensively in Australia, where she worked for Best Western Hotels.
