The Hotel @ MIT’s wireless network allows guests to read and compose e-mail messages, transfer large documents, browse the Web, and log into their home/office computers or VPN. The T-1 backbone guarantees available bandwidth and transmits at a rate of 2 MB to 11 MB per seconds. Public IP addresses are also available to hotel guests.
In order to make use of the hotel’s wireless connectivity, hotel guests must have a laptop or PDA and a wireless network card. There is complimentary wireless access to the hotel’s guests in the lobby, cyber library, restaurant, Sidney’s Grille, as well as the guest rooms.
