Galileo First GDS to Offer all bmibaby Routes and Fares

18th Aug 2003

Galileo International has announced the latest stage in its relationship with bmibaby

. Galileo will now have access to full fare parity, including web fares, for all Galileo travel agencies, making it the only GDS offering access to all bmibaby routes and fares. The new agreement will also see Galileo and bmibaby launch exclusive ‘trade only’ sale days, providing Galileo connected travel agents access to the best possible bmibaby fares for their customers.
The new agreement with bmibaby celebrates the pioneering relationship the two companies have developed since they joined forces at the end of last year. David Bryon,  head of ecommerce and distribution at bmibaby, said: “We have been very pleased with how our relationship with Galileo has developed and this new agreement highlights not only Galileo’s innovative approach to the unique requirements of low cost carriers, but also our commitment to the travel trade. Our relationship with Galileo allows us to make fares easily available to a broad audience of travel agents and their customers.”

Galileo’s Basic Booking Tool was specifically developed to meet the needs of low-cost airlines such as bmibaby.  It enables Galileo-connected travel agents to make fast, efficient, low-cost bookings with bmibaby to 31 domestic and European routes from East Midlands, Cardiff, Manchester and Teesside (starting October 2003). Travel agents will also be able to book bmibaby flights from Europe to the UK. In addition, the new agreement allows travel agents access to bmibaby’s promotional offers.
Robin Ranken, Galileo’s director of Airline Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa, commented:  “Galileo is very pleased to offer travel agents guaranteed access to all fares, including Web fares, on bmibaby’s routes. This significantly expands the world of budget travel to an increasingly cost-conscious business market. It also cements our position as the leading GDS to the low cost carriers, a position we are looking to grow over the next 12 months”.
