Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma At Emerald Bay On The Out Islands Of The Bahamas Now Open
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts today opens its first property in the Bahamas, Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma at Emerald Bay.
Located on the largest of 365 unspoiled and mostly uninhabited islands within the 193-kilometre (120-mile) Exuma archipelago, the 183-room Resort is set on 190 pristine hectares (470 acres), surrounded by tranquil turquoise waters and a white-sand beach. Only a 90-minute flight from Miami, the Resort is easy to reach with daily commercial and private air service to Great Exuma.
“Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma continues our tradition of hospitality in the tropics, providing everyone from families to golfers to meeting planners another one of a kind venue for a luxury getaway,” said Wolf Hengst, president, worldwide hotel operations, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
The Resort’s Bahamian Colonial architecture, bougainvillea trellises and native landscaping blend seamlessly into the coastline.
Designed in the shape of a crescent to complement the natural arc of Emerald Bay, the 183 guest rooms and 43 suites are housed in three-storey buildings with white tiled roofs and soft pastel stucco facades. Each room has a secluded terrace or balcony facing the Bay.
The main dining room serves Northern Italian dishes and the poolside grill features fresh locally caught seafood and imaginative specialties from a brick, wood-fired oven.
Averaging a comfortable 25¼ C (78¼ F) throughout the year, the island is a haven for recreation. The Resort provides a private beach, three freshwater pools, extensive water sports, complemented by a full-service marina (to open in 2004), four tennis courts (lit for night play) and a supervised program for children.
Golf legend Greg Norman designed the 18-hole golf course, featuring six oceanside holes and lush fairways. A new spa experience at the Resort showcases a secluded Zen garden and a full range of wellness programs and homeopathic spa therapies, using natural salts and indigenous herbs and flowers.
People seeking a tropical paradise for events, weddings, meetings and incentive trips will find extraordinary comfort and service in the Resort’s 1,211 square metres (13,033 square feet) of function space, which also can open to the outdoors for garden and beach events.
