Outrigger Beach Club & Spa At Palm Cove Grows By 132 Rooms and Suites

The exclusive Outrigger Beach Club & Spa at Palm Cove, located 18 miles north of Cairns, Australia, has opened an additional 132 rooms and suites, bringing its current inventory of accommodations to 180.
This number will grow to 220 by the end of 2003 when the third and final stage of this newly developed resort is complete. The property is managed by Hawaii-based Outrigger Hotels & Resorts.
A new large lagoon-style swimming pool with sand beach, water features and a swim-up pool bar, has also been added.
A day spa will open within the next few weeks and contain 7 wet and dry treatment rooms utilizing an exclusive range of French marine products.

A number of suites contain luxurious appointments such as private outdoor spas.
A select number of two level suites feature private, glass-fronted plunge pools, which allow guests underwater views to Palm Cove beach.
Dave Lawrence, Managing Director of Outrigger Hotels & Resorts in Australia, said there was a great deal of excitement surrounding the opening of stage two, which enables Outrigger Beach Club & Spa to target more diverse traveler markets.
“In addition to the increased room capacity and resort facilities, our ground floor retail mix is also coming to fruition,” Lawrence said. “Leases have been signed on three new restaurants on the ground level and Outrigger will operate a fourth restaurant which is due to open in late 2003 with seating up to 70 diners.
“Our increased room capacity, retail mix and conference facilities enable us to market the resort to both the luxury travel sectors and meetings and special interest markets, “Lawrence added.
Outrigger Beach Club & Spa has been designed in a style that suggests contemporary Queensland Colonial meets Raffles.
Its opulent design and facilities are complemented with an exclusive Silver Shadow Rolls Royce transfer service between Cairns airport and the resort.

Developed by Melbourne-based architect Leigh Ratcliffe, the resort occupies a four-acre site fronting Williams Esplanade overlooking Palm Cove Beach.
Palm Cove is recognized as the premier destination for European travelers to the Cairns region. Only 20 minutes north of Cairns International Airport, with a three-story height restriction on development, Palm Cove`s village atmosphere is highly valued among vacationers seeking a more relaxed environment.
The opening of the Outrigger Beach Club & Spa`s second stage boosts Outrigger`s total room numbers in Queensland`s Tropical North to over 400. Collectively, Outrigger operates or has under development a total of 12 properties in Australia, 10 of which are in the territory of Queensland with two in New South Wales.
Other Outrigger projects open or under development elsewhere in the South Pacific include Fiji, New Caledonia and New Zealand, positioning the company well on track to meet its strategy of having 20 properties in Australia and the nearby South Pacific region by 2005.
