The resort was voted Number One in this year’s sixth annual Readers’ Travel Awards’ Top 100 list by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller U.K., who nominated what they think is the best that the world of travel has to offer, from hotels and spas to airlines and airports. The citation, in Condé Nast Traveller’s issue, reads: “For unadulterated indulgence, there is nowhere else you’d rather be than the private island of Pangkor Laut Resort in Malaysia. Long a favourite, it went straight to the top of the Overseas Destination Spa category this year, its new sensational Spa Village winning it sufficiently high scores to ensure that Pangkor Laut Resort also made the number one spot in our ‘best of the best’ Top 100.”
Sarah Miller, Editor of Condé Nast Traveller presented both these awards to Dato’ Mark Yeoh, President of YTL Hotels and Properties Sdn Bhd. Commenting on the awards garnered, Dato’ Mark Yeoh said: “I am absolutely delighted that Pangkor Laut Resort has been presented with these awards, which confirms that this private island hideaway is the ultimate destination for the UK Condé Nast Traveller readers.”

It won “Best Resort Spa” at the Harpers & Queen UK Travel Awards 2002. The Spa Village is a unique retreat that pays tribute to the healing cultures of the region. Malaysia, with its diverse history of people and cultures, and a vast profusion of natural resources, provides the backdrop for health rituals that are amongst the oldest in the world. The abundance of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Thai practices makes this the ideal setting for complete rejuvenation.
