Kempinski Lands in Uruguay

The Colony Park Plaza Kempinski Hotel in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, will open in September 2003, focussing on meetings & conventions as well as leisure attractions such as exquisite cuisine, beauty treatments, health and wellness.  Kempinski’s first hotel in Uruquay, sister to the existing four Park Plaza Kempinski properties in Buenos Aires, Argentina, covers an 8,000 square metre site in Colonia del Sacramento by the Rio de la Plata. 


The Colony Park Plaza Kempinski Hotel will be a five-star resort and spa, with 80 luxurious rooms and spacious suites and a 2,500 square metre Spa & Wellness Centre, which is connected to the main building by underground pathways.  It is destined to be among the most sophisticated spa resorts in South America, providing dynamic treatments aimed at enhancing motivation in daily life, as well as improving the general physical state of mind.  It will be possible to attend gym classes, play tennis, enjoy the outdoor and indoor swimming pools, watch movies and dance in the discotheque.


Prime importance has also been given to the Meeting & Convention Centre, which will be the biggest in the city, with a capacity of 600 people and showcasing new generation technology.


There will be two restaurants, two snack bars, pool bars and catering for meeting and conventions.  With the same ownership as the existing four boutique hotels in Buenos Aires, and Colonia being situated under half an hour away from the Argentinian capital, Alejandro Servan Valdes, will be the managing director the five properties.
