Jamaica is proving to be the popular choice for spa holidays this season. Therapy and healing comes naturally to the island, which is home to two natural spas with powers of rejuvenation 50 times more effective than those in Vichy, France.
Jamaica is also providing unique spa experiences in some of the island’s luxury resorts including Jamaica Inn, which has invested heavily in its spa facilities over the past year.
Jamaica Inn is a small, elegant resort located in beautiful Ocho Rios. Situated on what many consider to be the best private beach in Jamaica, all of Jamaica Inn’s 45 rooms and suites overlook the beach and the Caribbean Sea.The recently opened Kiyara Spa (Kiyara, meaning ‘Sacred Place of the Earth Spirit’) is perched on a cliff-top above the ocean and combines a variety of treatments from around the world with a truly Caribbean atmosphere. Guests are invited to enjoy their chosen therapy in either thatch-roofed huts with hand-carved wooden pillars surrounded by exotic flowers, or whilst relaxing on a deck overlooking the sea.
The Spa is directed by Carolyn Jobson, a famous holistic practitioner who has worked as a location therapist for 20th Century Fox and Disney. Jobson’s original techniques are blended with indigenous plants, Ayurvedic herbs and principles of Chinese medicine to include the new hot-stone treatments, Apita Stone Energy Balancing and Arawak Opia Stone Massage.
In promoting a package that enables spa-goers to experience seven nights for the price of five, until mid November, Jamaica Inn is currently reaping the rewards for its investment in the spa sector.
