Marriott International has been named to manage the Rihga Royal Miri Resort in Sarawak, Malaysia, under a management agreement with Majupun Sdn. Bhd. Following its renovation, the property will be rebranded the Miri Marriott Resort & Spa later this year. It will be the seventh hotel in Marriottå‘s portfolio in Malaysia.

The resort is located at Brighton Beach, outside of Miri’s central business district, surrounded by large gardens. Most guestrooms enjoy views of the South China Sea. Sarawak is Malaysia’s largest state and has significant natural resources.

The existing Rihga Disco will be closed and converted to a spa that will have five treatment rooms following the conversion. Other recreational amenities at the Miri Marriott Resort & Spa will include a large outdoor swimming pool, a health club, two outdoor tennis courts, a children’s activity centre, a putting green and a soccer field.
