New Oriental Spa to Debut in Singapore

The Oriental, Singapore is to open a luxurious, all-encompassing spa in mid 2003 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.Designed to be a blissful sanctuary dedicated to the relaxation and rejuvenation of mind, body and soul, the new holistic spa will house six therapy rooms, including a double suite and a Japanese-themed treatment space.

Overlooking Marina Bay, in the heart of the central business district, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which has 467 rooms and 60 suites, has called upon some of the world’s leading spa experts to create the new 620 sq-ft spa concept.


Working to create a sense of equilibrium, the Oriental Spa is to be operated and managed by Spa of Siam, Asia`s foremost spa consultancy for the five-star market. While Singapore-based Coombs Associates will design the spa with an oriental inspired interior.

The spa will comprise six treatment rooms, including a double spa suite which comes complete a steam room, steam bath and steam chamber, where couples can relax before treatments on an opium bed followed by a fresh flower bath. The spa will also include a mind and body yoga studio with a high performance exercise area, and feature a Japanese-themed treatment room.


Leading spa product, treatment and consultancy company, Espa, has been chosen to supply products and create the treatment concepts, which include; Oriental, Asian blend, Chinese acupressure and Shiatsu. Special body treatments, such as salt and oil scrubs, detoxifying algae wraps and purifying herbal linen wraps, will also be available.

All treatments will incorporate a blend of traditional Oriental therapies and the latest Western spa services, using 100 percent natural products, pure essential oils, fresh fruits and herbs. The company states; “Guests can look forward to a sensory journey to wellness and a complete spa experience from the most modern therapies to traditional treatments of the Orient.”
Other facilities include a 25m outdoor swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre and Tennis courts.
