9th May 2003

The opening of a new 3,800 sq-ft Stonewater Spa & Boutique anchors Stonewaterå‘s Collection of eighteen American day spas.

The day spa, which opened on exclusive Greenwich Ave, Conn., is the signature property of Stonewater, one of the leading day spa companies in the U.S. Based in New Haven, it currently owns and operates 18 individual day spas across the country.
Stonewater Spa & Boutique is the first location in the Stonewater portfolio to be built, and the only spa in the portfolio located in Connecticut.

“Stonewater embraces quality, hospitality and balance through the spa design, the offering of natural spa treatments, an expert staff, and a sophisticated ambiance,” says Francis X. Acunzo, Stonewater’s founder and chief executive officer.

“Our mission is to provide our guests with a haven of relaxation to regroup and to feel good, and offer them an array of products, accessories and ideas to bring ‘spa life’ into their home.”

Stonewater Spa & Boutique’s was designed by CPS Design Inc., a prestigious New York City-based design firm with extensive luxury hotel and spa experience. The look and feel of Stonewater Spa & Boutique embodies earth elements - including wood, stone, bamboo and travertine.

Stonewater Spa & Boutique presents more than 30 different treatments, including a series of Signature Services such as a Relaxation Ritual using warm stones to comfort the body through foot, facial, arm, décolleté and scalp massages. This treatment concludes with chiming Tibetan Bells to balance the soul. Harmonious Journey is 90-minutes of body rejuvenation which includes the Relaxation Ritual, a full body polish, a papaya body masque, and tonifying.
Also on the menu is Aroma Stone, a 75-minute body treatment which incorporates a custom sea salt exfoliation blended with a choice of four aroma balms to relax, detox, stimulate or tone, and is followed by a soothing hot stone massage using the same balm of choice.

Additionally, the menu offers Stonewater Samplers, packages which incorporate a selection of treatments to offer a full spa experience, and Extra Touches, an array of quick and affordable add-on treatments that focus on the eyes, scalp or neck.

The boutique retails a variety of accessories, skin care products and bath and body lines designed to incorporate the “spa life” at home. The accessories range from Umano Beads, for the home that can also be used for meditation rituals; books focused on relaxation and wellness; Dreamtime eye pillows, foot ‘cozies,’ and shoulder wraps; silk brocade cosmetic bags from Martin & Barnett; a collection of microfiber towels, from Aquis; inspirational greeting cards and journals from BrushDance; Archipelago candles, New Earth CDs, and the latest trend in (magnifying) eyeglasses by Scojo.
Stonewater Spa & Boutique also carries a range of skin care lines including Decleor, Babor, M.D. Skincare and Pacifica, in addition to Francesca Guerra make-up, and Elizabeth W and I Colinali bath and body products.

With the opening of Stonewater Spa & Boutique, Stonewater’s former Greenwich location, Spring Spa of Renewal at 9 East Putnam, has closed. All Spring Spa of Renewal employees have been relocated to Stonewater Spa & Boutique.

Stonewater, founded in 2001, emerged from Sage Management and Development Group, a successful spa company established in 1997 by Acunzo. Sage began acquiring spas in the Northeast in 1999 and owned three locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts. In August 2001, Acunzo implemented a corporate initiative to further expand the acquisition strategy into a national day spa industry endeavor. Sage was renamed Stonewater, the new brand name developed for national expansion.
