$60 Million Renovation at the Marco Island Marriott Resort

The Marco Island Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa is currently undergoing an extensive $60 million renovation project which will include the addition of a 24,000 sq-ft Balinese health spa.

This ambitious project is scheduled to conclude in December of 2003 and will be undertaken in stages, with the majority of work occurring during the island’s slower season.

Once completed, the resort’s state-of-the-art Balinese health spa will house 24 treatment rooms, balconied outdoor seaside treatment terraces, plus a couple`s facility with private showers and massage areas. Décor will feature a combination of warm, tropical hues with rough, hewn stone flooring and rich woods. The treatment menu is yet to be confirmed but promises luxurious treatments, services and amenities associated with a world-class facility.

In addition, the complex will also incorporate a new 10,000 sq-ft ballroom complete with a beachside terrace overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Other enhancements include the new $2 million renovation of the Tiki pool area, which was completed in December 2002, and is set on the longest stretch of island beachfront with waterfalls and waterslides surrounded by lava rock formations and tropical landscaping.

A $4.5 million enhancement of the property`s championship golf club, the Rookery at Marco, was finished in January 2003, whilst some of the resort`s restaurants were completely redesigned and reopened in April 2002. The redesign of all guest-rooms has also been accomplished, with suites set to be completed in the autumn of 2003.
