Rosewood Hotels & Resorts`legendary Little Dix Bay resort in the British Virgin Islands has opened a new spa and oceanfront villas.
Situated majestically above the Caribbean sea, surrounded by stunning vistas and tropic tradewinds, The Spa at Little Dix Bay introduces a unique spa experience that blends local design elements and indigenous treatments with the signature Rosewood
style, discretion, personal service and attention to detail.
Little Dix Bay Founder, Laurance Rockefeller`s initial vision was to create a property in ecological balance with the environment, and the spa will further complement this concept. The individualised treatment cottages are situated on the cliffside, and designed and created in harmony with the environment to capture the natural elements of earth, air and water - both in the surrounding environs and in the treatments.
The treatment programmes will highlight the ancient healing arts of the exotic, but primative, societies that dominated the British Virgin Islands unitl the European colonisation of the 15th century. The spa will effectively reintroduce some of these practices to the island of Vigin Gorda where the indigenous population once developed its organic, therapeutic practices from the surrounding natural herbs, oils, ocean and celestial influences.
A series of treatment cottages with patios over the sea will house facial massage and wet treatment rooms. A unique, freestanding and elaborate Spa Suite will offer massages for two people simultaneously, together with an intimate dining area, private relaxation patio and therapeutic plunge pool. An exotic meditation pool perched dramatically over the spa`s nothern precipice provides the perfect place for post-treatment repose.
