Fire Closes Henlow Grange in England

Henlow Grange Health Farm, part of the Champneys Health Resorts Group, owned by Dorothy and Stephen Purdew, will be closed until February 2003 following a serious fire.

The fire, which occurred on Friday 22nd November around 9.15 in the evening, caused extensive damage to the celebrated spa and swimming pool area. Fortunately, no-one was injured. It has not yet been officially confirmed how the fire started.

Residents had to be evacuated and all future reservations have been cancelled. However, guests have been offered a full refund or an alternative stay at one of the group’s other leading resorts.

During the coming months, extensive repair and refurbishment will take place to complement the recent luxury refurbishment of the main house. Plans for new facilities include a Thalassotherapy pool, a new state-of-the-art gymnasium, an additional studio and a premier treatment area.

The reopening of Henlow Grange will undoubtedly re-establish it as the UK’s most popular and leading Health Resort.
