Darcie Debartelo Named Spa Director At The Lodge At Torrey Pines

The Lodge at Torrey Pines announced today the appointment of Darcie DeBartelo as Spa Director of the new luxury hotel, golf resort and spa scheduled to open in La Jolla, Calif., in April 2002. Ms. DeBartelo will oversee all spa activities, including development of a spa menu of services focusing on botanical and marine-based body treatments, massage, hydrotherapy and skincare.

Ms. DeBartelo joins The Lodge at Torrey Pines after working as the opening Spa Director at the renowned Mirbeau Inn & Spa in the Finger Lakes region of New York, where she oversaw all spa operations. Prior to her position there, she was the Assistant Spa Director at the prestigious Phoenician Centre for Well-Being in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she helped manage a staff of 150. Prior to that she fulfilled similar duties at the Claremont Resort and Spa in Berkeley, Calif., for seven years.

“We are very pleased to have Darcie onboard as our spa director,” said Dan Fullen, General Manager of The Lodge at Torrey Pines. “Darcie`s expertise in many types of spa treatments will be essential to The Lodge in developing our own signature treatments - treatments as special as the setting in which they are performed.”

The Spa at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, nestled in the main lodge, is 9,500 square feet with 12 private treatment rooms, herbal infused steam rooms, saunas and inhalation rooms. Currently, Ms. DeBartelo is designing signature treatments borrowing from coastal botanicals and marine-based extracts. In her spa menu creation, Ms. DeBartelo is embracing a complete line of restorative treatments such as sports, meditative and hot stone massages, facials, body wraps, Vichy shower and hydrotherapy, beauty regiments and other enticements that revitalize the body, mind and spirit.

Scheduled to open in April 2002, The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a tribute to the California Craftsman Movement and is modeled after Greene and Greene`s famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena, Calif., two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. The Lodge will feature 175 spacious guest rooms and suites, more than 13,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, a 9,500 square-foot full-service spa and two restaurants, including a signature dining room serving contemporary California cuisine. The Lodge is adjacent to the Torrey Pines Golf Course and is walking distance of Torrey Pines State Reserve. For reservations call toll-free 888-826-0224.
